Posted by

What Is Correx?

Corrugated plastic sheet, commonly known as Correx, is a tough, twin-walled, durable, and impact-resistant board that can be used for protection and other uses.

The twin-walled sheets are made of polypropylene and are plastic-like cardboard that is light in weight and very durable, making it suitable for both internal and external use.

A standard size sheet that is 1.2m x 2.4m suits most consumer needs. The sheets come packaged in compact rolls that are easy-to-handle.

Correx is a twin-walled polypropylene material that could be described as a plastic cardboard. A corrugated form of sheeting, Correx is lightweight, durable and very easy to use making it the ideal material for use at home or in the workplace.

How Is Correx Used To Protect Against Damage?

Correx plastic sheets are very versatile as they are water resistant, impact resistant and easy to cut to shape. These sheets really come into their own when used to protect hardwood floors from scratches during a building or renovation project.

Similarly, they can temporarily protect walls, plastered corners, furniture, work surfaces and door frames from knocks and bangs when moving home or office. This is due to the construction of the sheeting which makes it more robust than straightforward tarpaulin or flexible rolls of protection fabric. Correx is inexpensive and does not need any specialist tools to install.

Simply use a DIY knife or scissors to cut the sheets to size, and fix together using gaffa or PVC floor tape. Large areas of floor can be protected quickly and with very little fuss. This offers a great solution for an event that might result in damaged floors caused by excessive foot traffic, such as the hallway.

Correx can be used flat or curved, but it can also be shaped in boxes or dividers for packing away more fragile items such as glass or china.

What Are Correx Sheets Used For?

Correx sheets are a great protection option for temporary flooring. They can be used to protect the surface of the floor during any number of construction projects, or they can be placed under furniture items in order to protect them from scratches and scuffs.

Correx sheets are also perfect for covering up areas where work is being done on the walls, as well as protecting surfaces when painting. Correx plastic sheets are mostly used for temporary floor and window protection.

The standard size suitable for protecting floors and surfaces is 2mm thick, and variations are available according to the use it is meant for. There are, however, thicker Correx sheets that are up to 5mm thick. The thicker the Correx sheets, the better the impact resistance.

The sheets are widely used during renovation, reconstruction, or building projects as they are used to protect the floors and windows from damage, especially during the moving of furniture or other items that could cause damage.

The versatile plastic sheets are manufactured from a durable and resilient corrugated polyflute plastic that is tough enough to withstand the rigours of day-to-day work. They're safe for use on both hard floors, as well as protecting surfaces when painting or doing other construction projects such as installing flooring, tiling, laying insulation boards, hobbyists, crafts, sign making and for those seeking protection from pet cages or aviaries.

Plastic floor protection is an increasingly popular solution for commercial and industrial hard floor and surface protection. Over the last 30 years, Correx has become extremely popular for protecting hard floor surfaces, replacing more traditional materials like Plywood or hardboard/masonite.

The plastic floor protection can be used for many different applications, including temporary floors in construction projects, protecting hardwood or laminate surfaces from heavy furniture during moving or remodelling work, as well as being an excellent solution to protect carpeted floors after spills or dirt from footwear or scrapes from furniture etc.

Other than protecting floors and surfaces, the Correx plastic sheets are also popularly used to make signboards. This can be achieved by printing the sheets and is a far better choice than laminated paper or cards as they are very durable and lightweight.

This technique is commonly seen in Estate Agent signboards, construction signboards, directional signage.

The Correx Hard floor protection sheets, the black or white PVC Floor Tape, and the Silver Cloth Tape are available for purchase from the Trio plus distribution store.
